The Dartmouth Review: the book

Wah-hoo-Wah, friends! A collection of the best writing from twenty-five years of The Dartmouth Review, edited by Stefan Beck '04 and myself '98, will be published by ISI Books in April 2006.

I've written more about the project on my weblog, Armavirumque.

Neat idea, but are you sure the March 9, 1981 article posted at Armavirumque belongs in a book on conservatism?

The article says that a particular student disciplinary process was arbitrary, and that it ended when students who didn't want to get suspended pointed this out. That story's as old as academe, isn't it?

I worry about whether a national audience will want the book if it's all about how a few guys in the eighties wanted their college to have an indian as a mascot but some other people didn't. Maybe the range of topics will be broader than that.

James, are you sure the title should include "The Ivy League's Most..."? By saying Ivy League, you seem to diminish the national impact and appeal that TDR has enjoyed through the years. Maybe something with a broader scope. "Academia's Most Controversial..." Just a though.

Yeah, anything more needlessly brazen and melodramatic would be better fitting for the Review
